And you can count on them to be sweet, quirky, and a lot of fun to have around!

About the Breed

Size

Sheepadoodle’s come in a variety of sizes. Here at Sweet Creek, we offer “standards”. Males typically run 65-85 lbs, with females generally 10-15 lbs lighter. Males can vary from 16-22”, with females 1-3” shorter than males. The size of the parent dogs will play a big roll in just how large or small your puppy will grow to be.

Coat

The coat is typically wavy to curly with a whole lot of fluff! Benefitting from their Poodle genes, Sheepadoodle’s are considered close to hypoallergenic with little-to-no shedding. Of course, no dog is 100% non-shedding, but the Doodles do tend to work great for families with allergies.

You will want to make a habit of brushing your dog several times a week. A metal comb works great for getting down to the skin, where tangles often start. You can maintain their coat with a professional groomer, or do this yourself at home.

It’s important to keep your pups floppy ears clean & dry to avoid infections. (Especially after swimming or a bath)

We are always happy to help with your grooming questions when the time comes!

Lifestyle & Exercise

Sheepadoodle’s are happy-go-lucky and people-oriented dogs. They are highly intelligent and do require some mental stimulation. Playing games or puzzles, offering a snuffle mat or good toys are all things that will help keep your puppy entertained.

Exercise is very important and it’s crucial to give your dog an outlet to burn off some energy each day. Hiking, walks, the dog park or playing frisbee will give your pup the opportunity to exercise. This breed is generally laid back & calm in the home, given they have short periods to run around outside throughout the day. They live to be near their people and are such good natured companions.

Training

Both Poodles & Old English Sheepdogs were bred to perform jobs; the Poodle being a hunter & performer, & the OES being a herding breed. And so these dogs love to learn & work. They will enjoy working on obedience & tricks, while also getting physical and mental stimulation.

As with any puppy, you will want to begin basic training while they are young. This will make your life easier down the road. Using positive reinforcement techniques combined with treats & praise will go a long way with your very smart pup! Just remember, we are always here to help! Wether that’s in your first weeks at home, or a year later.. We want you to know you can reach out to us at any time and we’ll always do our best to support you on this journey.

Let’s See!

Why We Love Them

Dog mom with her babies; a Sheepadoodle and a newfypoo

With their charming wavy coats, joyful spirits, and a melting pot of Old English Sheepdog and Poodle traits..Sheepadoodle’s are loved for their affectionate and social nature.

Their expressive eyes and pleasant demeanor make it easy for them to show you their love.

As warm and inviting as their fluffy coat.. It’s a love that we decipher through happy grins, excited doodle dances, loving leans, offerings of toys, and the cuddliest of snuggles.

Say “Hello” to Gracie Jane

Check out this sweet video of our favorite Snoopy look-a-like, Gracie. She is such a good girl 💕

Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love. They depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old one, it merely expands the heart.
